How puzzles work in this game
You do not leave the Operator chair for most solutions. A call opens, you inspect a machine or document, then you return with a reply that did not exist when the conversation started. Guessing is how Dimitri dies at the regulator. The mid-article video is a full retail playthrough—pause when the radio or basement panel appears and compare your room to Operator Station.
Radio puzzle — first signal (frequency 5)
After Mikhail redirects unusual readings to your equipment, turn to the left-hand corner behind the intercom. Flip the radio’s red power switch, then step the arrows until the dial reads frequency 5. He gives that number in clear language; the puzzle is finding the set, not inventing a code.
The clip sounds like dripping water. Return and report It appears to be some aqueous body dripping. Uncertain reports still advance the mission, but this is the reading the audio supports. See Terminals & Radio and Headphones & Audio.
Radio puzzle — bifurcation (frequency 8)
When Sergei asks which tunnel to take, do not answer from the chair. Choose Hold on, Commander. I’m checking my terminals for relevant information. Power the radio again and tune to frequency 8. Mikhail identifies an unnatural sob on the left channel. That is the in-world reason to refuse the left tunnel.
Return with The path to the right seems more appropriate. The left path injures Dimitri’s leg and kills him at the final corridor. Details: Keep Everyone Alive and Decisions & Branching.
Optional later atmosphere: frequency 11 carries distant screams after the rusted hatch. It is not a survival check.
Identity code — Mikhail’s L.10:18
When Mikhail contacts you after vanishing, do not settle for a friendly greeting. Choose Link reestablished. Applying security protocol. Requesting immediate transmission of the assigned code. Over. He answers L.10:18. Verify it on the Registry Code Table in the control room, then accept the code and send him to rendezvous.
Skipping the request, calling the code invalid, or rushing a regroup order locks out STOP, SERGEI! Mikhail gave the correct confirmation code. later. That line is what keeps Sergei alive at the confrontation. Roster context: Squad Members.
Electrical regulator — 10 / 15 / 35 / 40
Dimitri eventually asks you to take the auxiliary system. The panel lives in the basement regulator room. Patch 1.23.1 fixed a soft-lock if you re-enabled the puzzle; 1.23.5 improved the on-screen wording. Update first if the panel feels stuck—Patch 1.23.1, Patches 1.23.5–1.23.7, Soft Locks Troubleshooting.
Do not reconnect until the four receivers read exactly:

The regulator manual warns that every button press changes a receiver by 5% and that exceeding 100% can discharge fatally.

Basement keypad — randomized four-digit code
Restoring basement power enables four religious broadcasts on channels 1–9. Sweep the dial and write the channel for each story beat, in this order:
- Line beginning First, there was nothing
- The second thing was noticing
- Before the end
- In the end
Those four digits are your keypad. One recorded run used 2534; yours will differ. The broadcasts stay until the door opens. Behind it you find A letter (Dimitri as father), the First Son figurine, and the Symbols VHS used on Obelisk Puzzle. Collectible rooms: Collectibles Checklist.
First door scan (not a number puzzle)
When Sergei reaches the sealed door, start with Do not open it. Await for instructions. Holding the squad unlocks Scan the door before opening it. Let Dimitri scan, then open. The scan does not stop the fog; it teaches you to inspect before authorizing.
